WeighStation publishes carrier intelligence derived from publicly available FMCSA data. This policy describes what information we collect when you visit the site or purchase reports — and what we do with it.
This policy applies to weighstation.io and any other websites or services operated by WeighStation (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
We use the information above to operate the Service, fulfill report purchases, deliver reports by email, respond to inquiries, protect against fraud and abuse, improve our products, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not rent or trade contact lists.
We share information with a short list of service providers that process data on our behalf under contract:
We may also disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of WeighStation, our users, or the public. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction with advance notice.
WeighStation publishes safety and compliance data about commercial motor carriers. This data — including crash records, inspection results, insurance history, and authority history — is sourced from the FMCSA Open Data Program and is public record. Carrier safety data is not personal information under most privacy frameworks because it describes the safety record of a regulated commercial entity, not an individual consumer. We publish it in the same manner as FMCSA itself.
If you are an individual owner-operator and believe data published about your carrier operation raises privacy concerns, contact us at inquiries@weighstation.io. For data corrections, the appropriate channel is an FMCSA DataQ dispute at dataqs.fmcsa.dot.gov.
We retain purchase and delivery records for as long as needed to provide the Service and to satisfy tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention requirements — typically seven years for financial records. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. Email subscribers may unsubscribe at any time; we retain a suppression record to honor the opt-out.
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS in transit, encrypted database storage, role-based access controls, and regular backups. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If you believe your account or purchase has been compromised, email inquiries@weighstation.io.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, request deletion, and request correction of inaccurate information. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Our lawful bases for processing are: contract performance (purchase processing and report delivery), legitimate interest (site security, analytics, service operations), and consent (marketing communications you opt into). You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email inquiries@weighstation.io with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will respond within 30 days.
The Service is intended for business users and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service or applicable law. The “Effective” date above will be updated when changes are made. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
